Assistant Manager
Assistant Manager – The Pheasant
Position Overview:
As the Assistant Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations while delivering exceptional guest experiences. You will collaborate closely with the General Manager and the rest of the leadership team to uphold our standards of service and hospitality. A strong background in wine is highly preferred, as you will support our robust wine program and help guide guests through our curated selections.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Service
- Lead by example to ensure outstanding service and hospitality.
- Work the floor during service, supporting staff and interacting with guests to create memorable dining experiences.
- Assist guests with wine selections, particularly from our curated offerings, and share your knowledge to elevate the overall experience.
Team Leadership
- Supervise and support front-of-house staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Assist in training and developing staff, with a focus on wine knowledge, service techniques, and hospitality standards.
- Address any service issues promptly and professionally, ensuring guest satisfaction.
Operations Management
- Assist with daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, ensuring the restaurant is set up for success.
- Collaborate with the General Manager to manage staffing, scheduling, and inventory.
- Help monitor and maintain the cleanliness, organization, and safety of the restaurant.
Wine Program Support
- Work closely with the General Manager and Wine Director to maintain and enhance our wine offerings.
- Assist with wine inventory management, including ordering, storage, and updating the wine list.
- Support wine-focused events and staff training sessions.
Qualifications
- Experience: 2+ years in a restaurant management or supervisory role, with a preference for upscale or fine dining environments.
- Wine Knowledge: Strong knowledge of wine, with a preference for candidates with certifications (e.g., WSET, CMS) or significant experience in wine service.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead a team, inspire collaboration, and uphold high service standards.
- Hospitality Focus: A genuine passion for creating exceptional guest experiences.
- Organizational Skills: Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility: Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds.

Job Details:
As part of our hospitality group, which includes Dunn & Sons Wine, a boutique wine shop in Yarmouth Port, and an upcoming wine bar set to open in May 2025, we are seeking a dedicated Sommelier to join our team. This role will play a vital part in ensuring our wine program is represented with excellence during service.
Position Overview:
The Sommelier will be the primary wine presence on the floor during service, assisting guests with their wine selections and enhancing the overall dining experience. While our Wine Director will curate the wine list and establish systems and protocols, this role will ensure these standards are maintained and consistently executed. The Sommelier will work closely with the Wine Director, collaborating to support staff education, inventory management, and system implementation while focusing on delivering exceptional wine service to our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the lead wine representative on the dining room floor during service, assisting guests with wine selections and pairings to enhance their meal experience.
- Maintain and implement wine service protocols and systems established by the Wine Director, ensuring consistency and excellence.
- Educate guests about the wine program, sharing knowledge about boutique producers, natural wines, and pairings.
- Provide ongoing training and support to the front-of-house team, reinforcing wine knowledge and service standards.
- Collaborate with the Wine Director to monitor and maintain inventory, manage the wine cellar, and ensure proper storage and organization.
- Participate in special wine-related events, such as tastings and pairing dinners, representing The Pheasant’s wine program.
- Act as a liaison between the wine program and guests, receiving feedback and relaying insights to the Wine Director.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a sommelier or wine-focused role within a fine dining or upscale restaurant setting.
- Certification from an accredited wine education program (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET, etc.) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of wine regions, varietals, and service techniques, with a particular emphasis on natural and sustainable wines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for hospitality and guest engagement.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team, supporting and maintaining systems established by the Wine Director.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

We are seeking a skilled, passionate, and personable Bartender to join our dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide an exceptional guest experience with friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable service.
- Craft creative and classic cocktails with precision and consistency.
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of our beverage program, including cocktails, wine, beer, and spirits.

Line Cook
We are looking to hire strong line cooks for the upcoming 2024 Summer season (and beyond!)
At The Pheasant we pride ourselves in gracious and hospitable service - what we refer to as "casual excellence." The ideal candidate is interested in gaining experience as a cook working under an incredibly talented executive chef who is eager to teach and help individuals develop toward their professional goals in the kitchen. There are many opportunities for growth and promotion within the restaurant.
Experience in high volume, casual/fine dining restaurants is a plus but we are absolutely willing to train candidates with the right attitude. This is a great opportunity for a hardworking person interested in pursuing a career in the kitchen.
The position is full time/5 nights a week, including weekends (closed Tuesday & Wednesday.) Candidates must be organized, detail oriented, and thrive in a fast paced environment.
Competitive wage, minimum of $20-$25/hr (commensurate upon on experience), opportunity for overtime pay and year round position.
Onsite housing may be available for the right candidates.
Food Runner / Busser
The Pheasant is hiring food runners/bussers for the 2024 season. Ideal candidates are avaiable from June through October, if not longer.
This role is a critical part of the overall restaurant service team. The primary focus being to clear and reset tables in a speedy, professional, and effective manner as well as maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the restaurant. The role is also to assist with running food to guests in a timely manner. Competitive base wage plus a percentage of gratuities. Year round opportunity.
